Christy earned her Master’s degree in Community/Agency Counseling with an emphasis in Child and Family Therapy from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1997. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech University in 1992. She has a double major in History and Political Science. She has a teaching certificate in Secondary Education and Social Studies issued by the Arkansas Department of Education. Christy graduated from Booneville High School.
Christy holds certification as a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Relief Worker certification in Critical Incident Stress Management and certification in Administration, Scoring and Clinical Interpretation of the SASSI.
Christy has been very active in her state professional counseling association, ArMHCA, since 1999. For the past 5 years, she has served as the Conference Chairperson for the Arkansas Mental Health Counselors Association. She served as the association president in 2002/2003. ArMHCA was awarded the Outstanding State Chapter Award in 2002/2003 by the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
Christy is also active in her professional association at the national level. She has served on the American Mental Health Counselors Association Member Services Committee since 2004.
Christy is a member of the Mental Health Sub-Committee for the Arkansas Attorney General’s Crime Victim’s Reparations Board. She is a board member for the River Valley Shelter for Battered Women and Children, Inc.
Christy was appointed to the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy by Govenor Mike Beebe in December 2009.
