Clergy Counseling Network

The Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church has partnered with The Laurence E. Schmidt Center to provide counseling services from qualified mental health professionals around the state for Presbyterian Ministers, United Methodist Clergy (Elders, Deacons, Local Pastors, Associate and Provisional Members) and their families.

All Clergy Counseling Network (CCN) Counselors are persons of Christian faith, licensed by the state of Arkansas and carry specialized training on the issues many clergy and their families face.

There is an average of two CCN Counselors per United Methodist District. Daily Bread Counseling has CCN Counselors in the Central District, South Central District, and the West District. You are free to choose any CCN Counselor in any district for your counseling needs. You are not required to use the CCN Counselor in your District.

How much does it cost?

Each CCN Counselor offers their services at a reduced rate of $50.00 per session (45 to 50 minutes), paid by the person seeking counseling. If you choose not to pay the reduced rate then we will file insurance for you. If we bill your insurance then you will have to determine your deductable and co-pay rate.

United Methodist of the Arkansas Conference who are covered by the CCN have an unlimited benefit, there is no limit to the number of session provided. This will be decided between you and your Counselor

Presbyterian Ministers and their families have six pre-paid sessions.

Is it Confidential?

All CCN Counselors are bound by the legal and ethical standards of their profession. All information is absolutely confidential with a few exceptions, which are required by law: 1. If the client is suicidal, 2. If the client is homicidal or 3. If the client reports current abuse of a child or elderly person.

Daily Bread Counseling will provide a monthly report to the Laurence Schmidt Center and the Laurence Schmidt Center will provide a monthly report to the Arkansas Conference on the total number of individuals seen and the number of sessions they have used.

All client information is completely confidential and will not be shared with the Arkansas Conference or your District Superintendent.

What services are offered?

Counseling services provided by the CCN Counselors include individual counseling, family counseling, and marriage counseling. Daily Bread Counseling will not provide after-hour or emergency services. Do you want to strengthen your relationship?

Over 2 million couples (4 million people) have taken the Prepare/Enrich program since 1980. There are 5 inventories available for you.

PREPARE: Pre-marital couples

PREPARE—MC: Pre-marital couples with children

PREPARE—CC: Cohabiting Couples with or without children

ENRICH: Married couples with or without children

MATE: Couples over the age of 50

Prepare/Enrich has been a very positive tool to help individuals identify their strengths and growth areas as they enter into marriage or been in a relationship for years. It is not a compatibility inventory but a very valid way to open up communication between the couples.

The six goals are to explore Relation Strengths and Growth Areas; to learn Assertiveness and Active Listening Skills; to learn how to resolve conflict; to help couples discuss Family-of-Origin; to help with financial planning and budgeting skills and to focus on personal, couple and family goals.

The inventory takes about 45 minutes and has a fee of $35 (separate from counseling fees) to have the inventory scored. After it is scored then your counselor will meet with you for 5-8 sessions to review the results.
